Team from Aizawa Hospital visits Min-Sheng General Hospital

A team from Aizawa Hospital in Matsumoto City, Japan, recently visited Min-Sheng General Hospital to gain an understanding of the challenges and fallout from JCI accreditation. The 100-year old hospital is aiming to become the fourth hospital in Japan to receive JCI accreditation, and the visiting team was interested in receiving feed-back from a similarly sized hospital. The guests elected to visit Min-Sheng which, like Aizawa Hospital, operates about 500 beds, and was the first hospital in Taiwan to be accredited by Joint Commission International.

All hospitals in Taiwan are required to be accredited by the TJCHA in order to contract the National Health Insurance program for inpatients services. The TJCHA was established in 1999 by the Department of Health, making Taiwan the fourth country in the world to have its own hospital accreditation program. The program became the first ISQua (International Society for Quality in Health) certified program in Asia in 2007.
